I don't know about the patch i just download the complete script and install its work fine, regarding for 2.1 Phpmelody is coming soon i saw there post in Facebook.
But curious to know what new features will include. Specially i am seeing Playlist, FFmpeg feature if it will have in this new release, then i will be much much happy.

The new features are not public yet.
As for me hope to see more professional templates. This is one of the bad things with PHM: there no really professional eye catching templates.
